ANDY’S BURGERS BIG ‘A’ CHALLENGE HITS THE ICE

NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes Host 50 oz. Burger Eating Contest

(Raleigh, N.C.)---Could you eat a 50 oz. burger with at least four toppings, a side of fries and a 24 oz. drink in 30 minutes while 20,000 screaming fans cheer you on? At every Carolina Hurricanes home hockey game this season, one lucky fan of Andy’s Burgers, Shakes & Fries – a franchised, 50’s-style restaurant known throughout North Carolina for its famous, hand patted cheeseburgers – will find out. The restaurant has partnered with the NHL team to provide on-the-ice entertainment during the first intermission of each home game by bringing their Big ‘A’ Challenge to Raleigh’s RBC Center.

The Challenge has been open to diners at all Andy’s locations since 2007. If a customer can eat the 50 oz. burger with toppings, a side of fries and a 24 oz. soft drink in 30 minutes or less, the meal is on the house and the winner’s name and completion time are posted to the Big ‘A’ Wall of Fame. This hockey season, Andy’s fans can enter their names at any location to win two free tickets, a parking pass and the chance to take the challenge in front of the entire RBC Center arena. If the challenge is successfully completed, the contestant wins two additional tickets to a future Canes game and $50 of Andy’s Gift Certificates.

“We are thrilled with the response we’ve gotten from the challenge,” said Andy’s Founder and President Kenny Moore. “It’s been a great way to get our name out there, give back to our fans and support our favorite NHL team.”

Founded in 1991, Mount Olive, N.C.-based Andy’s Burgers, Shakes & Fries is all about the American classics that people know and love.  A background of old-time rock n’ roll music and ‘50s diner décor set the stage for a mouth-watering menu that features Andy’s famous hand-patted Cheeseburgers, fresh-made frozen custard, mouthwatering Cheesesteak sandwiches, Shrimp Burgers and much more.  Andy’s currently has over 100 locations in North Carolina, and expects to open its first franchised, out-of-state location in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in May 2012. By the end of 2014, Andy’s envisions up to 500 Andy’s across the country.
